WHAT DO THE PARK CODES MEAN?

Fred with his thumb up

Fred Says

“Bohn Park has the kind of wide-open setting that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy a full day in Lyons.

There’s plenty of parking, a whole mess of things to do, and some mighty fine Front Range views in every direction.

What I loved most was walking beside St. Vrain Creek, wading in the cool water and taking in all the nature around us. The playground, skate park and fields are great—but the river and scenery are what make Bohn Park feel special.

Bring your walking shoes, take your time by the water and leave room in the day to simply look around.”

Why You’ll Love This Park

Bohn Park gives you plenty of room to make a day of it. Kids can hit the playground, skate park or open fields while everyone can spread out for a picnic, walk the paths, play on the multi-use court, or enjoy time beside St. Vrain Creek. With ample parking and a long list of amenities, it is an easy place to gather, play and stay awhile.

The river and surrounding scenery are what make Bohn Park especially memorable. Take a stroll along the water, wade in the cool St. Vrain Creek, watch for birds and enjoy the big Lyons views all around you. It is more than a playground stop—it is a place to slow down, explore a little nature and enjoy a true Colorado mountain-town setting.

Trail and park information—including fees, hours, access, reservations, rules and conditions—is subject to change. Always confirm current details with the official managing agency before your visit.

Best Times to Visit

Three people representing quieter times
Quieter Times: Weekday mornings are ideal for a peaceful walk beside St. Vrain Creek, time on the playground, or an easy ride at the dirt jump bike park. The cooler air and softer light make it a great time to enjoy the river, nature and surrounding Lyons views.

Seven people representing busier times
Busier Times: Expect more activity on warm summer weekends and holidays, especially around midday. The playground, skate park, ball fields, bike features, picnic areas and creekside spaces all draw visitors when the weather is fine.

Tip icon: Front Range Explorin’™
Fred’s Tip: Give yourself more time than you think you’ll need. Bohn Park is easy to visit for the playground or a quick picnic, but the creekside walk, wading spots, bike park and spectacular views make it worth slowing down and exploring. Bring water shoes for the creek and check conditions before stepping in.

Zero’s Paw Report

Everything your adventure buddy(s) wants to know.

Dogs on leash icon Front Range Explorin’™ Dogs Welcome? Yes — keep your pup leashed while enjoying Bohn Park. Lyons’ designated off-leash dog park is located just south of the park.

Drinking water icon Front Range Explorin’™ Water Available? Bring drinking water and a bowl for your pup — St. Vrain Creek is for wading and exploring, not a reliable drinking-water source.

Shade icon Front Range Explorin’™ Shade? Some — the covered pavilion and areas near the creek offer relief, but much of the park is open and sunny.

Dog waste bag icon Front Range Explorin’™ Waste Stations? Not confirmed — bring your own bags and always clean up after your pup.

“Oh boy—Bohn Park has plenty for my nose to investigate! There are trees, grass, river smells, picnic spots and lots of room to walk beside St. Vrain Creek. I even hear there’s an off-leash dog park just south of here. Keep me leashed in Bohn Park, bring my water bowl and waste bags, and let’s take our time sniffing around. Now that’s a proper dog adventure!”
