Eldorado Canyon Snow Drive
A spring snowstorm turned Eldorado Canyon into a beautiful Colorado winter scene. This short scenic drive follows the canyon beneath dramatic sandstone cliffs, with snowy views around every bend.
Fred Says
“This was my first Colorado snowfall drive, and Eldorado Canyon showed off in a mighty big way.
The canyon views covered in fresh snow were absolutely over the top. The snow did not last long, but its beauty is still lingering in my brain.
Best of all, Zero got to experience his first Colorado snow. That alone made this little drive one I will not forget.”
Why You’ll Love This Scenic Drive
Eldorado Canyon is beautiful any time of year, but fresh snow gives this familiar Colorado canyon an entirely different feel. The snowy road, evergreen trees, South Boulder Creek and towering sandstone walls created one unforgettable view after another on our drive.
This is an easy way to enjoy a little Colorado winter beauty without planning a long outing or making several stops. The snow did not last long, but it made this first Colorado snowfall drive—and Zero’s first snow experience—one that will stay with us for a long time.
Scenic drive information—including road access, closures, conditions, fees, business hours and visitor rules—is subject to change. Always confirm current details with the responsible road agency and individual destinations before your visit.
Stops Along the Way
There were no planned stops on this drive. Eldorado Canyon is home for us, so this adventure was simply about getting out, taking the canyon in, and enjoying the fresh snow while it lasted.
Sometimes the best scenic drive is not about reaching a new destination. It is about seeing a familiar place in an entirely different light. On this day, the snow-covered canyon views gave us plenty of reason to slow down, look around and appreciate home.
General Information
Road access, weather, parking capacity, park fees, reservations and visitor facilities may change. Confirm current conditions and entry requirements with Colorado Parks & Wildlife before visiting.
Before You Go
Fresh snow can make even a familiar canyon drive feel like a brand-new adventure. Check the forecast, current road conditions and Colorado Parks & Wildlife park alerts before you leave. Snow, ice and rapidly changing weather can affect driving conditions, visibility and access.
Plan your route before heading out and download your map in case cell service is limited. Give yourself extra time, slow down for winter conditions and make sure your vehicle is prepared for the weather. Bring warm layers, water and a few snacks—even for a short outing.
If you enter Eldorado Canyon State Park, confirm current entry requirements, fees, parking availability and any reservations before you go. Zero enjoyed his first Colorado snow here, but dogs must remain leashed in the park. Bring water and waste bags for your four-legged explorer.
Use designated parking areas only, keep roads clear and respect the canyon, wildlife and other visitors. The snow may disappear quickly, but a safe and respectful adventure will leave you with the kind of memories that last.
Road conditions and business schedules can change. Confirm current details before visiting.
Check pet rules at individual stops.
